Leeds United transfer news: Whites backed to revisit failed 2020 bid, Bielsa signing plots exit
Leeds United record signing Rodrigo is said to be uncomfortable with living in England amid speculation surrounding his happiness at Elland Road.
That’s according to online publication Fichajes, who suggest that the Spanish international is unconvinced by his role in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans at the moment.
Rodrigo arrived in Yorkshire from Valencia last summer, and has gone on to feature 20 times in the Premier League this season, scoring on three occasions.
Just 12 of those appearances have been starts, however, and it hasn’t been uncommon for Bielsa to deploy him in an advanced central midfield role, rather than as an out-and-out striker.
Fichajes suggest that could be an issue for the player too, especially with the European Championships looming at the end of the season.
Rodrigo has been capped 25 times for Spain, but has been omitted from their latest squad for the current run of World Cup qualification matches.
The report even goes as far as to suggest that the 30-year-old wants to leave England and return to La Liga in the summer transfer window.
Elsewhere, former Elland Road stopper Paul Robinson has backed the Whites to rekindle their interest in Ryan Kent at the end of the season.
Leeds were heavily linked with a move for the Rangers winger last summer, and failed with a bid to lure him away from Ibrox, as confirmed by Gers boss Steven Gerrard.
But Robinson believes that they could revisit a transfer in the coming months.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, he said: “He is a top player and he’s had a great season with Rangers, as they’ve won the Premiership.
“It’s a good time for him. I think there will be a number of Premier League teams looking at him in addition to Leeds.
“But, if you like a player, you don’t suddenly become disinterested in him because you didn’t sign him. Especially after the season that he’s had for Rangers.
“Ryan Kent will be on the list.”
Robinson’s comments come amid further reports from Football Insider that Leeds are considering cashing in on Helder Costa when the summer transfer window opens.
