Loan gossip (Feb 22): Evans implies Leeds might avoid emergency loans; De Laet is with Boro for the long haul; Huddersfield want Liverpool prospect

Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has suggested that they may avoid the emergency loan market unless they can secure a player's long-term future in the process.

The Whites have been repeatedly linked with Kyle Lafferty, although there have been some suggestions he may move to Leeds purely in preparation for Euro 2016.

Evans said: “We’re not going to go into the market and sign somebody now on emergency loan to get them fit for the Euros, that’s not the remit.

“If a deal can be done then we’ll spend money, we can get it all done. But we’re not just going to develop youngsters for elite in the Premier League.

“To build a team you have to believe that players are going to be here long term.”

Ritchie de Laet has put aside suggestions that he might return to Leicester City from his loan spell at Middlesbrough.

Reports spread online suggesting that the Foxes might recall the full-back from his loan spell.

However, De Laet moved to clarify his situation, tweeting: “I’m not going back I’m still here in Spain with the boys working hard #UTB”.

Huddersfield Town are keen on signing Liverpool’s young talent Joao Teixeira on loan, according to The Sun.

They may be helped in their quest for the player by the good relationship between Reds manager Jurgen Klopp and Town’s David Wagner. The two worked together at Borussia Dortmund.

Teixeira has previously spent time on loan in the Championship with Brighton and Hove Albion.
