MATCH CENTRE Doncaster Rovers 1 Plymouth 2: Angry O'Driscoll blasts Rovers

Doncaster Rovers saw their dream of gatecrashing the Championship play-offs fade with defeat to Plymouth at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Leicester's 3-0 defeat at second-placed West Bromwich on Friday had lifted Rovers spirits ahead of their Easter double-header.

Victory over struggling Plymouth today would cut the gap on the sixth-placed Foxes to three points ahead of Monday's trip to seventh-placed Blackpool, whose 4-2 win at Scunthorpe left them five points clear of Rovers last night.

Rovers chief Sean O'Driscoll made one enforced change from the side which won 1-0 at Barnsley last Saturday. Top scorer Billy Sharp was ruled out by a thigh injury and replaced by Dean Shiels.

The Pilgrims were again without captain and knee injury victim Carl Fletcher, Chris Clark continuing to deputise in central midfield.

Rovers took time to settle but the prompting of John Oster got them on top although chances were limited.

Oster volleyed narrowly over and David Stockdale did well to come off his line and make the block after Jay Emmanuel -Thomas took a return pass into the area from Shiels.

However, it remained goalless at the break.

James Coppinger finally broke the deadlock on 58 minutes, but Joe Mason equalised 11 minutes later, before Bradley Wright-Phillips grabbed a stoppage-time goal.

Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll was angry with his team.

"I thought we were lacklustre the whole game," he said. "The standards we set, we didn't do what we need to do.

"It was as poor as we have played since the 3-3 with Ipswich (in September). We had a big chance today with a big potential prize and it was poor.

"All the things we needed to do we did with no enthusiasm. Body language was poor. No one talked to each other.

"They have had two shots and scored twice."
