The 22-year-old featured just seven times for Huddersfield in the Championship last season but has been an ever-present this campaign.

The London-born forward is continuing to display remarkable improvement by the week and tops the Terriers’ goal-scoring chart.

“He has been fantastic,” said Hogg of Koroma, who scored his fourth goal of the season.

“He was out in the cold a bit last year but he has come out this season flying.

“He has lost a lot of body weight, his fitness has been fantastic and all credit to him.

“If he keeps scoring goals, he will stay in this team.”

Hogg admitted that Saturday’s win was extra special, given that it was against the club he supported growing up.

Marvin Johnson and Britt Assombalonga scored for the visitors but strikes from Carel Eiting – his third in four games – and Fraizer Campbell, along with Koroma’s goal, won it for the hosts.

“It is special. Captaining this club, I love this club, to captain it against your home-town team is something special for me,” said Middlesbrough-born Hogg, who has made just shy of 250 appearances for the Terriers.

“It is something I won’t forget any time soon.”

The midfield ball-winner continued: “It was a top performance, we needed it.

“Results lately haven’t been what our performances have justified.

“Here we battled, worked hard and played some great stuff. The performance had a bit of everything.

“We knew we would have to defend really well and I thought we defended and attacked well.

“It was a solid performance.”
