JOSH MORRIS insists the play-offs are still on for Bradford City despite a stuttering start to 2016 that has yielded just two goals from six games.

The Bantams missed an opportunity to put pressure on the top six when losing 1-0 at home to Barnsley on Tuesday night.

It was Morris’s first start since September 12 due to injury and the wideman came closest to grabbing a goal for the Bantams with a first-half shot that was blocked on the line.

He was similarly unlucky in the FA Cup replay defeat to Bury the previous week when his goalbound shot was deflected on to a post before Phil Parkinson’s men eventually bowed out on penalties.

“They are definitely still on,” said Morris when asked about City being five points adrift of the play-offs with one game in hand.

“There is a lot of football left to be played and we know what we can do. If we go on another run like we did earlier in the season, then we will be there or thereabouts.

“We have just got to concentrate on Saturday (when Fleetwood head to Valley Parade) and come back with another good performance and a win.

“I thought the crowd were great (against Barnsley). They got right behind us and I think that helped as we got a lot of crosses in and shots.

“We gave everything and the lads were gutted at the end. We ran our socks off and put in a very attacking performance but couldn’t find a goal.

“But that’s part and parcel of the game and we will be ready again for Saturday. You go through spells like this, on another day we could have scored three or four.

“It is good we are at home again. We need another high-energy performance.”

City’s goal-scoring travails are clear for all to see but the bright note of the Barnsley defeat was the number of chances created.

Parkinson’s deployment of two out-and-out wingers helped and Morris was delighted to be back in one of those wide roles.

“It was obviously great to be back and play the full game,” he added. “It has been a long time out.

“Hopefully, I can kick on now and push on for the rest of the season. The body felt fine. I worked hard when I have been off and I just want to crack on now.

“I missed a long period and have got a lot of catching up to do. Hopefully, I can play my part between now and the end of the season.”
