The options Steve Evans now has on the table - he won't be chasing Cellino for a new contract at Leeds United

Leeds United manager Steve Evans insists he is '˜ready and waiting' to speak with Massimo Cellino over a new deal to stay with the club next season.

Evans remains in the dark as to where his future will be, but says he will not be chasing Cellino for a contract.

He has seen his side go unbeaten in four games following Saturday’s battling 2-2 draw at promotion-hunting Hull City.

With the possibility of Scottish giants Celtic interested in recruiting Evans for next season, it could be that the United boss has a number of options on the table. Either way, he is now focused on ensuring a strong end to the season.

“I am ready and waiting to speak to the president when he is ready but I have a couple of Saturdays to go and whether I am staying or not I want to go out with six points,” he said.

“We agreed many months ago that we would have the conversation when he was ready; he is well aware there is (other) interest in me. But when you shake hands as two men and say you’ll focus on the football, I am all right with that.

“Every time we win a match it gives me a better chance of staying - or (finding) another employer.

“I am fortunate I don’t sit here wondering how I will pay my bills and I genuinely want the opportunity to deliver a promotion for Leeds United.”

Evans did add that he would be disappointed to be let go by Cellino, who last week told the media the Scot “talks too much”.

“I don’t think annoyance will come into it,” he said. “Shedding tears would, disappointment would. This is a special club and I love being a part of it. You are very lucky to be associated with it.

“I won’t have to chase the president - we have a good relationship, we have a difference of opinion which is normal. I have made it clear I want to be here but I won’t stay not wanted. You have to be wanted.”
