Preston North End v Huddersfield Town - Terriers begin search for successor to Nigel Clibbens

The Terriers head to Preston North End today looking to claim a first victory since the five-goal demolition of Charlton Athletic on January 12.

Since then, Town have taken a point off Fulham at home but also lost to Brighton & Hove Albion and Cardiff City in the league. They were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Reading.

“For us there is no extra pressure,” said the German who will go head-to-head with Simon Grayson, the manager who brought Huddersfield out of League One in 2012 via the play-offs.

“Just the same pressure we have before every game. We want to win this game. Preston will be tough. They have a very organised, focused defence that it is not easy to create chances and score against.

“But we showed on Boxing Day (when Preston lost 3-1 at the John Smith’s) that we are able to do this. We have to be fast, pass quickly, be confident on the ball and use all the spaces they offer us on the pitch.

“I watched them on Tuesday at Derby (County in a goalless draw at the I-Pro Stadium) and we know exactly what to expect. Our target is to find our weapons to get another three points.

“It will be perfect if we are able to score the first goal, as this will make life much easier.”

Town’s trip to Deepdale will be the first outing since the surprise and sudden departure yesterday of Nigel Clibbens as the club’s chief executive.

Clibbens joined the board in December, 2008, having earlier advised Hoyle during his initial investment deal in the club.

“I would like to place on record my thanks to Nigel for his dedicated work on behalf of the club,” said Hoyle. “He has made a massive contribution into transforming Huddersfield Town into the forward-thinking, progressive organisation it is today.

“He played a big role in helping the club progress off the field, as well as on the pitch through promotion back to the second tier. He leaves with my best wishes for the future.

“Change is something that you have to be prepared for in football and the club will now begin 
its search for a new chief executive.

“At a time when David Wagner is overseeing a transformation of life on-the-pitch at Huddersfield Town, we will look to bring someone in to lead a new chapter off it.”
