Reading v Huddersfield Town: Dixon determined to upset the Royals again

The Royals were beaten 3-1 at home in midweek by Danny Wilson’s Reds, who, in the process, breathed fresh life into their flagging campaign.

Huddersfield are looking for a similar lift after a five-game winless run and full-back Dixon believes Mark Robins’s men are capable of springing a shock.

He said: “We are well accustomed to the Championship now and its unpredictability. Barnsley and Yeovil (at Leicester City) both picked up good results in midweek and Barnsley proved that Reading can be beaten.

“The game against Reading earlier in the season (which Town lost 1-0) was definitely one which we deserved more from. We created a lot of chances but we have to take them. Hopefully, we can do that down there.”

In four previous away games against teams currently in the top six – Town go to Derby County on April 12 – Robins’s side are yet to claim a point.

That, though, will not be weighing heavily on the minds of the Huddersfield players as they prepare to take on sixth-placed Reading.

The Terriers manager said: “We have done okay against the top six teams, but haven’t picked up enough points. The majority of our games before the end of the season are against teams above us in the league so that gives us an opportunity to improve that record.

“We want to play with more freedom and eradicate the daft mistakes. Hopefully, we can entertain the fans.

“Reading are fighting to stay in the play-offs. But we have good quality, we need to put our minds to the task and perform.”
