Rotherham United v Northampton Town: Search for defensive cover fruitless

ROTHERHAM UNITED manager Ronnie Moore is growing frustrated in his search for new players.

The Millers chief has attempted to bring Nathan Clarke in on loan but the out-of-favour Huddersfield Town centre-half has turned down dropping into League Two.

With Thursday's transfer deadline looming, Moore has so far failed in four other bids to secure appropriate cover for defensive duo Ryan Cresswell (back) and Nick Fenton (calf) who have both been struggling with injuries recently.

"We certainly need to do something," he said, ahead of this evening's visit from struggling Northampton.

"We can't trust Cressies' back because if he comes in and it is alright and then it goes again and the deadline's gone we're in trouble.

"With Fenners currently having a little problem with his calf we've got to definitely bring one into the club.

"We've not had anything yet but we'll keep knocking."
