As far as Arnason is concerned, a change is as good as a rest for the classy centre-back, hoping to crown his 32nd birthday with victory over the Dutch.

Arnason, part of the Iceland side who lost their two-legged World Cup play-off to Croatia last November, going down 2-0 on aggregate, said: “I love playing for Iceland and it is good to change it up as well and not always be doing the same thing.

“It is good to get away sometimes and concentrate on something else and it keeps you on your toes.

“I usually come back on Wednesdays and the club gives me time on a Thursday where I have an easy jog and then train on Friday to slow me into things.

“When the boys have been off and sometimes you have played 180 minutes, it stays in your legs.

“But I am used to playing Saturday/Tuesday, so it is not that different and I will be ready when I come back.”

Mitch Rose has returned to the Millers after his loan spell at Crawley Town came to an end.

The midfielder, younger brother of Tottenham Hotspur and England defender Danny, made just two appearances for the Red Devils during his loan, the second of which was in a 4-0 defeat to Rochdale more than a month ago.

Manager John Gregory said: “We have increased our midfield options in recent weeks and it was hard for me to guarantee Mitch first-team football as a result.

“He has been a model professional during his time with us and we wish him all the best for his future career.”

Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth remains keen on re-signing Millers’ youngster Danny Rowe on loan.

The defender was recalled by the Millers at the end of last month due to an injury crisis at the New York Stadium.
