Brentford 0 Rotherham 1: Super Shearer keeps Millers on away track

ROTHERHAM United maintained their unbeaten away record at a cost of six bookings.

That will not worry Millers manager Steve Evans, who saw his side claim three points after a great save from Scott Shearer in the dying moments from a long-range strike from Brentford substitute and Chelsea loanee George Saville.

“The biggest compliment I can give to my team is that Brentford have not had a chance. The only save of note was Shearer’s sensational save from 30 yards, which the whole ground applauded and is the reason why we play him,” said a delighted Evans, whose side are now sixth.

The winning goal in the 14th minute came when right-back Mark Bradley, who had missed three chances the previous week, rose highest at the far post to power Ben Pringle’s whipped in free-kick past a static Bees defence after a foul on Alex Revell.

Clayton Donaldson almost levelled but his chipped effort was blocked by Shearer.

Adam Forshaw also came close just before the break, but his rising drive cleared the bar.

This proved a fast-paced game and both sides went at it with vigour.

There were combative challenges all over the pitch but the Millers had the outstanding defender in Craig Morgan.

Brentford manager Uwe Rosler said: “Frustrated is the right word. We tried but could not break them down, we knew what they are about, hard working.

“I am responsible for team selection and that’s with me and I will not blame anybody else.

“We have to start to play our football again. We have players low on confidence and can’t handle the pressure and the expectation and are not playing with freedom.”
