The Millers goalkeeper, one of the heroes in the dramatic League One play-off final success over Leyton Orient at Wembley in May, has signed a one-year extension and will remain at the club until the summer of 2016.

Evans feels it is just reward for Collin, who has overcome the challenge of Scott Loach to establish himself as the Millers’ No 1 goalkeeper.

Several more are expected to follow suit in signing, but Evans has a warning for anyone who does not want to stick around.

He said: “Adam has been announced, but I think there are a number of others close to agreement.

“Anyone who doesn’t want to be here anyway, we do not want to talk to them. We should show them the door, kick their backsides and send them on their way

“Anyone who doesn’t want to be part of what the Millers are all about, go and take your trainers somewhere else.

“Adam came in and grabbed the shirt of big Scott (Shearer) and he has been fantastic for us.

“For the main, he has been consistent this season. He was left out when he made some serious errors at Bolton, but reacted in the way you expect senior professionals to, which is to get on the training ground and fight for the shirt, and he was very quickly back in.”

Evans says he is envisaging some incoming loan activity ‘early next week’ ahead of Thursday’s emergency loan deadline, while confirming that Coventry’s move to sign Kirk Broadfoot on loan could not be agreed.

He said: “Coventry certainly had a chat with us. We just couldn’t get it over the line. It fell down for different reasons so he’s still a Rotherham United player.”

Two players have left the club of late with Chelsea teenager John Swift’s six-month loan cancelled early, while Loach has joined Bury on an emergency loan until January.

On Swift’s speedy exit, Evans said: “John is a very talented lad.

“But it was becoming obvious his development in Rotherham United reserves wouldn’t develop Swifty the way we would like it to be or Chelsea would like it to be.

“He goes back with our best wishes.”
