It was a bad day at the office for Steve Evans’ outfit, but in contrast, it was a red-letter one for Edgar Davies’ Bees, who recorded their fourth victory in their past six games to continue their recent upturn.

The visitors drew first blood on 21 minutes when Jake Hyde broke clear of the Millers rearguard, latching onto a throughball before coolly lobbing over the advancing Andy Warrington.

Kayode Odejayi came close to a leveller following a goalmouth scramble, before Ibra Sekejja almost doubled Barnet’s tally with Warrington performing splendidly to save his effort before Andy Iro’s brave header was cleared off the line by Mark Bradley, with the Bees player having to be substituted after receiving lengthy treatment which ended with him being carried off on a stretcher.

Johnny Mullins went close to a leveller just before the break when his shot was blocked and from the resulting corner, the Millers also bundled the ball in during a goalmouth melee.

Craig Morgan spurned an opportunity on the restart before Warrington denied Holmes at the other end.

Mark Byrne then saw his free-kick tipped over the bar by Warrington, with Barnet sealing a deserved win eight minutes from time when the influential Holmes set up Andrew Yiadom, who sidefooted in.

Nicky Holmes came close to a third late on when he hit the post.
