Rotherham United: Agard relishing return as Millers eye Hyam

BRISTOL CITY striker Kieran Agard admits he is relishing this weekend’s first return to old club Rotherham United - who are set to make a beat-the-deadline move to sign Ipswich midfielder Luke Hyam.

Agard rebuilt his career in his two seasons at the New York Stadium, where he played a full part in the Millers’ back-to-back promotions to the Championship, firing 26 goals as the club earned their second-tier ticket in an outstanding 2013-14.

Those feats earned him a big-money move to Bristol after failing to sign a new deal with the Millers and while he is looking forward to his return to South Yorkshire, he is solely concentrating on business.

Agard, 26, has netted twice this season, with both goals arriving against former clubs, including a goal in City’s 1-1 draw with Hull last weekend, having also netted against Leeds United, who were linked with a move for him in the summer of 2014.

On the weekend return with Bristol, who lie in 19th spot, four points above the Millers, Agard said: “Of course I’ve been looking forward to it but I’m a professional. We’ll prepare properly for the game like we always do.

“I had two fantastic years at Rotherham. I can’t speak highly enough of the club, the supporters and the management staff for giving me that opportunity.

“I still have friends at the club, although there has been a great deal of change in my time away from there.

“(But) There won’t be time for being nice, that can wait until after the game.

“I’m going to be treating it like any other game.”

Meanwhile, the Millers are reportedly to sign combative Ipswich midfielder Luke Hyam on loan ahead of Thursday’s emergency loan window deadline.

Hyam, 24, has not featured for Town since their FA Cup defeat to Southampton last term following a knee injury.

Hyam has made 111 appearances for the Portman Road outfit.
