Video: Redfearn tight-lipped on Leeds developments as Rotherham options run out

ROTHERHAM UNITED manager Neil Redfearn admits that his options are ‘down to the bare bones’ ahead of tomorrow’s Championship clash with Reading - his first home game in charge of the Millers.

Danny Ward is unlikely to feature after struggling with a back spasm at the weekend, while Joe Mattock (shoulder) is definitely out and will see a specialist this morning to diagnose the extent of the problem.

Joe Newell and Lee Frecklington are also set to miss out, while Richie Smallwood is suspended. Redfearn is assessing his options, including the prospect of buying players in.

Redfearn, who did not want to comment on developments at his former club Leeds United – set to confirm the appointment of ex-Rotherham boss Steve Evans following the sacking of Uwe Rosler – said: “We are down to the bare bones as such, but it gives me chance to have to look at other people.

“I have said all along that three games will give me chance to assess the squad in a short space of time and then we will try and move on from there.

“It is a case of sitting down and assessing everything and then if these lads need some help, then we maybe need to bring people in.”

On the news regarding Ward, Redfearn added: “His back spasmed up on Saturday and he was struggling to walk, never mind run. It’s a major worry as he’s an important player for us, someone I rate highly.”
