The former Blackpool and Rangers player officially committed his future to the Millers on Monday morning, and will join up with his team-mates for the start of pre-season training at Roundwood on Thursday.

Broadfoot, 31, who had an impressive 2015-16 campaign in helping the Millers retain their second-tier status, said: “I am obviously pleased to get the deal done and I’ve loved my time at Rotherham since I have been here.

“I am delighted to get it over the line and it’s taken a bit of time to get it done, but that was nothing to do with myself or the club, it was more personal family reasons.

“I am looking forward to playing under the new manager [Alan Stubbs], especially with him being a centre-half in his playing career at the top level and I am always looking to learn.

“I spoke to a few boys that he’s managed at Hibs and they all speak highly of him so I am looking forward to getting started.”
