Round-up: Chris Wilder may switch to Sheffield United's secondary targets

The Blades landed one name on their shopping list yesterday in ex-Oldham centre-back James Wilson, 27, on a two-year-deal.

Wilder also has offers on the table for two players, including MK Dons defender Kyle McFadzean, but will look elsewhere if no headway is made.

He said: “If we do not get movement by the end of the week then we will start moving on. A lot of things are required to get things over the line.

“We have submitted bids we feel are reasonable and there will be more negotiating. But we won’t drag everything out. I won’t wait for ever on a deal but, yes, we are confident things can happen.

“We would love to get our first-choice targets, but we are also looking at (other) good players who are coveted by other clubs. We won’t wait for ever.”

Wilder has confirmed that rival clubs have expressed interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Che Adams, but has stressed that the club have not received any firm bids.

Premier League side Everton have been linked with a £1m move for Calvert-Lewin, with Adams also attracting top-flight interest. Huddersfield Town are also keen.

Wilder said: “There have been no offers for Che or Dominic.

“But, do you know what? I would much rather have clubs interested in our players than not.

“There is a reason why people are interested and that is because they are good players.

“There is more to come from Che and I know Dom having worked with him last year.

“Yes, there has been a little bit of interest, but no firm bids have come in.

“When we came in, we had the intention of working with them and that has not changed.”

Leeds United have completed the signing of Sporting Lisbon forward Hadi Sacko, 22, on a season-long loan.

Huddersfield have signed Manchester City’s Australian international midfielder Aaron Mooy, 25, on a year-long loan, pending international clearance.

Former Bradford City midfielder Greg Abbott has been named as the Bantams’ chief scout in succession to Tim Breacker.
