Clough frustrated as Blades throw it away

Sheffield United lost 2-1 at home to Gillingham as Nigel Clough’s revival stuttered at Bramall Lane.

Goals from Danny Kedwell and Cody McDonald gave the visitors only their second away win this season.

Good pressure from Kedwell forced Blades keeper George Long to rush his clearance and the ball rebounded off the Gills forward and into the net.

Neill Collins had a header cleared off the line for the hosts before Chris Porter nodded in Simon Lappin’s corner.

But McDonald pounced on John Mousinho’s rebounded header to seal the win.

Blades manager Nigel Clough said; “To give two goals away in the manner we did makes it very difficult to win matches.

“To give away goals at the start of each half, meant they can just sit there. We’ve conceded two goals, both our own doing and its hugely frustrating.

“We were a bit nervy and a bit too eager once we’d gone behind.”
