Forest’s Blackstock rejects loan move to Blades

GOING NOWHERE: Dexter Blackstock has chosen to stay at the City Ground rather than go out on loan.

Clough contacted his Nottingham Forest counterpart and former team-mate Stuart Pearce about Blackstock, subject of interest from several other clubs. Sheffield Wednesday have denied they are one of them.

But the 28-year-old, who spent a brief loan spell at Leeds United last autumn before suffering a serious season-ending knee injury, said he was not interested in a move to the Blades, despite making just one appearance for Forest this term.

It comes after any prospective move for Brighton’s Chris O’Grady were put on hold until the south coast club land replacement cover.

Pearce said:”He had the option of going to Sheffield United, but did not feel it was right at this moment in time.”

Young Hull City pair Calaum Jahraldo-Martin and Will Aimson have joined Tranmere Rovers on loan until January 1.

Antigua and Barbuda international striker Jahraldo-Martin, 21, has made two first-team appearances for the Tigers since joining from Dulwich Hamlet in 2013.

Twenty-year-old defender Aimson signed for Hull from Eastleigh three years ago and spent time on loan at Tamworth last term.

Rovers boss Micky Adams said: “Calaum and Will are two talented young players who will add to competition for places and freshen things up.”

Meanwhile, the Tigers are mourning the loss of former goalkeeper Iain Hesford, who has died at the age of 54.

Hesford made his debut for Blackpool in 1977 and played over 200 times in six seasons and later went onto play for Sunderland and Hull.

Born in Zambia, Hesford made seven England under-21 appearances and signed for Sheffield Wednesday in 1983, but did not manage an appearance for the Owls.

York City manager Russ Wilcox has been given the green light to re-enter the loan market, with Middlesbrough winger Ryan Brobbel, who spent a spell at the Minstermen last term, one potential target.

He said: “They have allowed me to dip into the loan market and bring in Alex Cisak, Deon Burton, Stephane Zubar and Brad Halliday and the chairman has said he will look at anything else I require. As a manager, I can’t ask for any more than that.”
