Henderson leaves Sheffield United for Millwall

Sheffield United striker Darius Henderson has completed his move to Millwall.

The deal, as reported in today’s Yorkshire Post, will save the Blades around £1m in wages next season.

Henderson, 29, still had one year remaining on his contract at Bramall Lane but the ‘undisclosed’ transfer fee is believed to be nominal.

Manager Danny Wilson said: “Obviously we think Millwall have got a great deal. Darius is a very good targetman and we wish him all the best at his new club. Following relegation we are aware that some players will want to move and Darius, who is in his late 20s, feels at this moment in time that it is very important to be playing in the Championship.”

Henderson cost £2m from Watford three years ago but his time with the Blades was blighted by injuries and suspension. He made just 68 starts and scored 21 goals .
