Sheffield United 3 Colchester United 0: Evans back with a goal for Blades

STRIKER Ched Evans celebrated his return to the Sheffield United starting line-up with a goal as the Blades beat Colchester United, writes Ian Appleyard.

The Welsh international, who has been absent this season following a rape charge, struck after just three minutes when Colchester failed to deal with a corner.

Striker Chris Porter doubled United’s advantage in the 12th minute - lobbing goalkeeper Mark Cousins from the edge of the area.

Evans, Porter and Matt Lowton all hit the woodwork before Stephen Quinn added the third in the 71st minute.

Despite the scoreline, it was not always one way traffic and Blades goalkeeper Steve Simonsen made a number of good saves.
