Sheffield United 1 Millwall 1: Late equaliser denies Blades

A LAST minute equaliser by Millwall substitute Kevin Lisbie denied Micky Adams his first victory as manager of Sheffield United, writes Ian Appleyard

The Blades looked to have secured three points thanks to a 77th minute penalty by substitute Daniel Bogdanovic But Lisbie scored at a late corner – just seconds after forcing Blades goalkeeper Steve Simonsen into a wonder save.

Adams is still without a win after eight games as Blades manager but, with Crystal Palace losing, this point at least moves the club closer to safety.

The game had been locked at stalemate until Bogdanovic, who had been on the field less than 10 minutes, was blocked in the area by Millwall captain Paul Robinson.

Referee Darren Deadman duly awarded a penalty and the Maltese international stepped up for the kick and sent goalkeeper David Forde the wrong way.

The game was a gritty affair with tensions simmering under the surface. There were also clashes between Millwall supporters and stewards in the second half.
