The Liverpudlian sees his deal at Bramall Lane expire next summer, with the Blades open to offers for the 26-year-old next month after his rejection of fresh terms.

Wilder, whose side welcome Everton on Boxing Day, commented: “There have been no enquiry for John Lundstram to me or the chief-executive, so he is still under contract.

“If somebody does come in, then we have to assess that if someone comes in with a fee - and if it is worth doing it or not.

“My phone has not rung once regarding John, so I don’t think John moves in this window and that is the reason he has been involved with us and his attitude has been good and that is the reason I don’t think John will go until his contract runs down at the end of the season.”

Lundstram’s importance in the here and now has been magnified by the prognosis of Sander Berge’s serious hamstring injury sustained in the recent game with Manchester United.

Wilder confirmed that the Norwegian international has undergone surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his leg and will be out for three to four months.

Oli McBurnie’s shoulder problem is continuing to be managed and he is unlikely to feature against Everton or in the club’s festive and New Year holiday fixtures.

Wilder said: “Oli is touch and go for the next two or three games and we have planned on him not being involved and if he is, then great. We are monitoring that on a day-to-day situation which is disappointing to us.

“Sander Berge has had an operation on his tendon in his leg and it is a blow for us that Sander is out for three to four months.

“It is a difficult one with a couple of players missing for us. One, short term and the other being a longer scenario.”

Lys Mousset, who injured his ankle recently in training, will be assessed today, with a view to him potentially involved as an impact substitute against Everton if he is okay.”
