The tie evokes memories of the pair’s famous meeting in the semi-finals of the competition at Old Trafford in April 2003 – when Fredrik Ljungberg scored the only goal of the game in front of a crowd which included Blades chief and lifelong fan Chris Wilder.

The pair last met in the Cup in the fifth round back in 2004-05 when the Gunners triumphed in a replay on penalties at Bramall Lane.

All told, the pair have met on eight occasions in the FA Cup, with the Blades winning three times, with their last victory coming back in January 1996 thanks a Carl Veart goal in a 1-0 home win.

Holders Manchester City, whose 1-0 victory at Sheffield Wednesday ended the Steel City’s hopes of dual participation in the quarter-finals for the first time since 1993, must travel to Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United in the last eight.

Meanwhile, Leicester City will welcome Chelsea, while Norwich City will host the winners of tonight’s tie between Derby County and Manchester United.

The ties will be played between March 20-22.
