Sheffield United: We’ll be going to Wembley to win, insists Brayford

The full-back, who has proved a massive hit since arriving on loan from top-flight outfit Cardiff City, fired in the Blades’ clinching second goal against Charlton.

The 26-year-old, who shrugged off a calf strain to line up for the Blades, said: “To get to a cup semi-final as a League One club, from where we have come from – you can’t put it into words what a great achievement that is, really.

“It’s all down to the lads in the dressing room and the management staff for the way we have gone about and applied ourselves.

“Playing in semi-finals are brilliant games to play in and I am sure everyone will be raring to go.

“It will be a lovely day, but we still want to go there and get a victory.

“But to get there is a fantastic achievement.

“I’d say it’s at the very top in terms of my career.

“Even if you are a Premier League club, to get into a semi-final is a tremendous achievement.”

Brayford’s fellow loanee Conor Coady rapidly received congratulatory texts from his team-mates at parent club Liverpool.

Coady said: “Sheffield United are a massive club and Wembley is a place where this club should be going to.

“I know the lads’ last experience of Wembley in the play-off final (in May 2012) wasn’t a happy one and hopefully we can go and put that right.

“There will be no pressure on our shoulders and we will be the underdogs.”
