Sheffield Wednesday was easy move to make '“ Steven Fletcher
The Scottish international forward, released by Sunderland at the end of last season - having joined the Wearsiders for £12m from Wolves in 2012 - says that talks with the Owls soon convinced him to make the move to South Yorkshire and he is now keen to play his part in the club’s continued revival after a positive 2016-17 campaign which saw Carlos Carvalhal’s side reach the Championship play-off final.
The 29-year-old has signed a four year-deal and links up with fellow Scotland players Barry Bannan and Ross Wallace.

Hide AdOn his move back to the Championship, Fletcher, who ended 2015-16 on loan at Marseille after a frustrating final season at Sunderland, said: “It is more to do with how well the club did last season and for me, it is a good opportunity.
“The way the manager has the team playing as well (was a factor). I watched them a few times last season and liked the way they played and when I spoke to them as well, they said all the right things for me and I was happy about it.
“I had a few phone calls over the summer when I was away on holiday with my family.
“But Sheffield showed a lot of interest and when I finally came down to speak to them when I got back, I was happy with what they said and how they wanted to move forward with the team.
“It wasn’t really a hard decision.”
