BREAKING: Sheffield Wednesday sign Forest striker

Gary Megson has moved to bolster his depleted strikeforce by signing Nottingham Forest striker David McGoldrick on loan.

McGoldrick arrives on an emergency loan from Championship side Nottingham Forest, with recent new signings Ryan Lowe and Chris O’Grady ruled out by injury.

McGoldrick joins the Owls on a short term deal up to and inclusive of 16 October 2011.

The 23-year-old linked up with Forest in the summer of 2009 for £1m from Southampton and has since made 35 starts for the Midlanders, scoring nine goals.

McGoldrick began his career with city neighbours Notts County and signed for Southampton in 2005. He went on to enjoy loan spells with Notts County, Bournemouth and Port Vale.

The Nottingham product has made a total of 124 senior starts, scoring 32 goals along the way, and will wear shirt number 32 for the Owls.
