A 25-minute strike from Atdhe Nuhiu was cancelled out by Joe Ralls on 74 minutes, even though Glovers defender Byron Webster had been sent off before half time.

Jones said: “It’s frustrating for everybody. I felt we froze a little bit playing here; you’d have to ask the players whether they think that but I think the sending off affected us more than it affected them.

“We didn’t get it down, we didn’t pop it about, we didn’t get down the sides of them, too many people weren’t looking for the ball and our decision making was poor so we have to hold our hands up and say that’s a poor, poor performance from us in the second half.

“Listen, it’s a goal, they aren’t offside the linesman had it wrong and it’s a sending off because he’s punched him.

“So there’s no complaints but we’re gifted that and what we don’t then do is see it out.

“Players have to stand up and be counted. They have to be strong here and if they make a mistake, they make a mistake.

“They don’t mean to go out and not play well but I just felt we didn’t close them down and the goal we conceded, just little decisions like that are the differences between making them draws into wins.

“Roger Johnson comes in tomorrow and he’ll give us a bigger voice. He might give us a bit more leadership but he hasn’t played for a while so we will have to see what level he is at.”

Glovers boss Gary Johnson was proud of his side in the spirit they showed despite being a man down for half of the game.

He said: “I’ll talk through the goal but I won’t give the headline because the headline is the performance and our lads in the second half but nobody understands these offside rules, especially these referees.

“They seem to make it up as they go along. I think both players are interfering with play.

“The referee said he played on because the linesman thought one player (Antonio) was offside and not the other lad. How can they be telepathic? If two players are running at the ball, for me, that’s interfering.

“I was very proud of my players but I was disappointed with our vice-captain who got sent off.

“We can’t afford to go down to 10 men, he’s apologised to the lads and we’ve accepted that but then the 10 men had to give 10 per cent extra in the second half. They gave that and more.

“We still created some chances and we kept the ball well - we didn’t just stand in our penalty area waiting for them to lump it.”
