Stockport County v Rotherham United: Rotherham aim to add to Stockport's woes and profit from rivals' slip-ups

After a blank weekend, Rotherham United have a chance to make up ground tonight on their promotion rivals with a trip to struggling Stockport County.

The Millers were, along with Port Vale, one of only two sides in the top 10 not to play last Saturday due to scheduled opponents Stevenage being involved in the FA Cup third round.

Happily for Rotherham, only Chesterfield and Bury of the top seven won while Wycombe Wanderers, Bury and Shrewsbury Town all lost.

It means victory tonight at Edgeley Park would help Ronnie Moore's men strengthen their grip on an automatic promotion place.

Rotherham, who trail leaders Chesterfield by five points, will be boosted by having Ryan Taylor available, an X-ray on the suspected broken metatarsal that saw the striker limp out of the recent win at Macclesfield Town having come back showing no fracture.

On-loan defender Danny Coid will, however, miss out again with ankle ligament damage as United look to extend their unbeaten league run to eight games.

That means Dale Tonge is likely to continue at right-back against a County side who have won just once at home in 12 attempts this season.

Last six games: Stockport County LDWLLL, Rotherham United WLWDWW.

Last time: Stockport County 2 Rotherham United 2: August 25, 2007; League Two.

Referee: D Coote (Nottinghamshire).
