BARNSLEY'S Tom Bradshaw has completed his move to Championship side Millwall.

The former Walsall forward, out of contract next summer, was the subject of several previous bids in the close season from the Lions, which were rejected by the Oakwell hierarchy.

Bradshaw has joined Millwall on an initial loan, leading to a permanent transfer, with the Londoners having committed themselves to a club record seven-figure fee to sign him.

Reports have suggested that Millwall will pay £1m for the forward, with the fee rising to £1.25m.

Barnsley are also understood to have inserted a sell-on clause into the deal.

Bradshaw was keen to join the London outfit, with his partner living in the south and expecting a child.

That desire, combined with Millwall’s increased offer, prompted Barnsley to adopt a pragmatic stance and accept the bid - despite having spoken of their intent to keep key players throughout the summer.

The Reds are now intensifying their efforts to land a replacement and have a target in mind.

Speaking earlier today about the situation with Bradshaw, Reds assistant head coach Andreas Winkler said: “We are all on the same page, the board and the manager. We were informed on Tuesday about the situation.

“It is not easy (for Bradshaw). It is a little bit complicated and a private situation. He wants to move to get close to the south. His girlfriend lives in the south and they want to raise a family. We understand, but from a football point of view, it’s disappointing.”
