NEVER mind the magnificent vista of the Northern Lights, the weekend's action was even more illuminating if you were a Rotherham United or a Barnsley supporter.

Fine victories for the Millers and the Reds headlined the weekend activity for Yorkshire’s clubs, with Neil Warnock’s side recording an excellent derby win over Sheffield Wednesday, continuing their Indian sign over the Owls at Hillsborough.

Paul Heckingbottom’s Tykes also continued their remarkable rise to move into sixth place in League One, while there were relieving wins for Leeds United and Middlesbrough.

On the flip side, Doncaster Rovers and York City went down to worrying defeats, leaving them both with big relegation concerns, perhaps more so for the Minstermen.

As for the weekend’s best, here’s the Yorkshire Post’s Team of the Weekend.

1: Lee Camp (Rotherham United)

After his accomplished showing last time out against Brentford, the custodian proved a resolute last line of defence amid the derby cauldron.

2: Frazer Richardson (Rotherham United)

Senior status in Rotherham’s ‘Dad’s Army’ side, but age is proving no barrier as he continues to flourish after a tough first six months of the campaign.

Sick all morning ahead of the game at Gigg Lane, but manned up well and produced a gutsy shift which belied the fact that he had been feeling ill beforehand.

4: Richard Wood (Rotherham United)

On his second return to the club where he started out and one he still has affection for, Wood put sentiment aside to produce an unyielding, strong performance at the back in what was an outstanding team display.

5: Alex Baptiste (Sheffield United)

In his first full game since breaking his leg for parent club Middlesbrough against York City in pre-season, Baptiste didn’t let anyone down in a big psychological moment for the experienced defender – his sound performance drawing praise from manager Nigel Adkins.

6: Reece Burke (Bradford City)

Solid and dependable, just as he has been all season, with his performance made all the more commendable after returning to the fray after not even having a training session after twisting his ankle.

7: Harry Chapman (Barnsley)

Fresh from his bewitching cameo in the second half against Coventry, Chapman was a vibrant box of tricks and caused Walsall no end of trouble, grabbing his first goal for the club. Bright, bright future.

8: Josh Brownhill (Barnsley)

Has enjoyed himself immensely since arriving at Oakwell and crowned another accomplished display with a goal at Walsall - bit of a dream loan spell thus far.

9: Mirco Antenucci (Leeds United)

The Italian has not wintered well, but settled the issue - and broke a fair bit of tedium - with a lovely-taken curler on Saturday, a rare moment of quality given the abject fare on show. Neatly-taken opener too.

10: Gaston Ramirez (Middlesbrough)

Fast becoming a favourite on Teesside and fully justified starting in the creative number ten role that Stewart Downing so craves. Classy second goal and powerful header and could be a big player in the run-in for Boro.

11: Danny Ward (Rotherham United)

Powerhouse display and never gave Owls defenders’ a moment’s peace and displayed menace all game. Could be a big player in the run in for the Millers.

Manager: Neil Warnock

Close run thing given another feather in Paul Heckingbottom’s cap with a noteworthy win at Walsall. But the verdict for the second week goes to the veteran boss, who became the first manager to pick up three points at Hillsborough since the end of August. And how he will have relished it.
