Robertson’s expected departure - following the earlier exits this month of Robert Snodgrass and Jake Livermore - should see the Scotland international switch to Premier League rivals Burnley for £10m.

The capture of Zeegelaar is, however, the only way to Hull will allow Robertson to move to Turf Moor.

A £3m fee is understood to have been agreed with Watford for midfielder Adlene Guedioura, while also set to arrive in Yorkshire today is Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia.

Leeds are today hoping to complete the loan signing of Villarreal winger Alfonso Pedraza, who is understood to be in the process of undergoing a medical this morning.

The 20-year-old is due to complete his switch move after cutting short a previous loan at Spanish second division club Lugo.

Villarreal have paid around £300,000 to buy Pedraza out of his deal with Lugo, a side he joined in July and represented for the final time in a league game against Real Zaragoza last night.

Leeds are set to pick up the cost of terminating his loan and have negotiated a deal which will see them sign Pedraza permanently for a fee of around £8.5m if they secure promotion to the Premier League in May.

Garry Monk is also hopeful of bringing in West Ham forward Ashley Fletcher.

The 21-year-old striker, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Barnsley last season, has struggled to make himself a regular after a summer move from Manchester United.

His availability, however, looks to depend on whether West Ham can seal a deal for Brentford’s Scott Hogan - and that is looking increasingly unlikely.

Rotherham United are looking to follow up Monday’s loan capture of Cardiff City’s Semi Ajayi and Ben Purrington’s permanent addition from Plymouth Argyle with further signings.
