Transfer gossip (Weds, June 15): Brady set for Tigers return? | Owls and Town miss out | Former Leeds chief Steve Evans in Oldham link

HULL CITY will begin their new Premier Division assignment at home to champions Leicester City - and they also face competition from the Foxes for Norwich City left-back Robbie Brady.

Brady, who is on Euro 2016 duty with the Republic of Ireland, was sold by Hull to Norwich for £7m last July but looks likely to be moving again after the Canaries’ relegation.

The Tigers had been linked with a move to re-sign their former player but the 24-year-old is also interesting Leicester.

Brady has two years left on his Carrow Road contract and would almost certainly cost more than the £7m that Hull sold him for.

Ryan Mason seems highly unlikely to be joining Hull with the England international keen to win back his place at Tottenham Hotspur.

Hull, Stoke City and Bournemouth had all been linked with the midfielder, who is valued at around £5m and earned his first cap for England against Italy in March.

But while Mason has slipped down the White Hart Lane peacking order behind the likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele, the 24-year-old is keen to force his way back into Tottenham’s first-team plans.

“Two seasons ago, me and Nabil (Bentaleb) started almost every game together in midfield and last season it was different,” he said.

“So next season it is not a foregone conclusion that any player will be starting.

Striker Stephen Fletcher - released by Sunderland - plus Norwich’s Ryan Bennett are other names linked with Hull.

In the Championship, alleged Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town target Simon Terodde has signed for 2.Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart.

The 28-year-old was the top scorer in last season’s German second tier with 25 goals and had been linked with a move to both the Owls and Terriers, as well as Derby County.

Wednesday have been heavily linked with a move for Watford left-back Daniel Pudil, who would cost £2m after being on loan at S6 last season.

Young Manchester United striker Ashley Fletcher, who has been heavily linked with a move to both Leeds United and Barnsley, looks likely to stay with the Red Devils.

Fletcher spent last season on loan at Barnsley but has said his “ultimate goal” is to break into the Manchester United first team, though the 20-year-old has yet to sign the Old Trafford club’s offer of a new deal.

Leeds United are also interested in Oxford United winger/forward Kemar Roofe and a deal for him looks more likely.

Any fears that Barnsley star winger Adam Hammill might be leaving have been eased by news that the 28-year-old has signed a new contract.

George Smith and George Williams have departed Oakwell after the club decided against offering them new contracts.

Rotherham United, meanwhile, are being heavily linked with a move for striker Anthony Stokes, who is available on a free transfer from Celtic, having been on loan at Hibernian - under new Millers manager Alan Stubbs.

Stubbs has also been boosted by the news that defender Richard Wood has put pen-to-paper on a new one-year deal.

And former Rotherham, Leeds and Crawley chief Steve Evans is being linked with a quick return to management at Oldham Athletic.

The Glaswegian is as short as 1-2 favourite for the role with Sky Bet.

On the managerial front, another former Leeds head coach, Uwe Rosler, is the main name in the frame for the Bradford City job.

Sheffield United, meanwhile, have missed out on the signature of striker Alex Revell, who has, instead, signed for Northampton Town.

The Blades were keen to secure the services of the 32-year-old who was also wanted by MK Dons.

Josh Robinson - a 22-year-old defender for Northern Irish club Crusaders - is set to sign for Vanarama National League side York City.
