TAKEOVER talks are back on at Hull City.

A Chinese group with business interests in real estate and shopping malls rather than a US consortium led by Peter Grieve are now said to be negotiating with Tigers owners the Allam family

The consortium of Chinese and Hong Kong investors, including representatives of the wealthy Dai family, would need to find around £100m to complete the deal for a club Aseem Allam bought for £40m in 2010 and who is said to have invested a further £85m.

Hull fans are planning a protest against the club owners this weekend as they remain without a permanent manager since Steve Bruce walked out and have made no significant signings for the start of the Premier League campaign.

Fellow promoted side Middlesbrough have called off their pursuit of Hull’s former Sheffield United defender Harry Maguire after having had bids of around £5m for the 23-year-old rejected.

They are close to tying up a deal for Cardiff’s Brazilian defender Fabio da Silva as well as being in talks with West Brom over the purchase of £5m-rated former Tigers star James Chester.

Hull have already lost Sone Aluko, Mohamed Diame and Ryan Taylor as well as Bruce and caretaker Mike Phelan wants to bring in fresh faces rather than lose key men.

The Hammers need cover since Aaron Cresswell damaged a knee in pre-season, although they landed former Olympiakos star Arthur Masuaku.

Leeds, however, look set to sign Benfica B left-back and former Anderlecht youngster Alexis Scholl either on loan or in a permanent transfer.

Sheffield Wednesday have moved swiftly after a Cup exit to Cambridge United, and have issued a ‘hands-off’ warning to derby County, who want star striker Fernando Forestieri.

Aston Villa defender Joe Bennett is undergoing a medical and the 26-year-old left-back is expected to sign a three-year deal at Hillsborough where he spent the second half of last season on loan, but only managed to make three appearances.

Derby have tabled a £7m bid for former Watford star Forestieri, who scored 15 Championship goals last season and who hit the winner against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Derby, who opened their Championship season with a goalless draw against Brighton, are now managed by former Owls defensive hero Nigel Pearson. But following Wednesday’s shock EFL Cup exit at Cambridge United on Tuesday, head coach Carlos Carvalhal said: “Sheffield Wednesday is not selling any player. This is clear. The chairman was very clear that he won’t sell any players. We are buying not selling players.”

Barnsley, who will be without injured striker Sam Winnall for the rest of the month, at least have cash to splash as they will collect around £7m from a 15 per cent sell-on clause they had in the sale of John Stones to Everton after the England defender moved to Manchester City for £47.5m.
