HUDDERSFIELD TOWN manager Chris Powell is eyeing some home comforts at last for his side - who start life under his management with back-to-back games at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Powell, who was handed the Town reins eight days ago, will lead out Town for the first time against Middlesbrough on Saturday, just over 72 hours before his side welcome Wigan Athletic.

It represents an ideal opportunity for himself and Town, without a home win since March 1.

On the importance of home form, Powell said: “It is a big thing because you want to do well at home, it is the mainstay of any season. “Most managers will tell you they don’t care where the points come from and I am very similar in that respect.

“But when you are playing on your home patch, it is your home and where the majority of your fans sit. I have been told we have really good away support, but at home, where the feel-good factor is and it (winning) makes you feel good on your home patch.

“I really want us to do well at home, I really do.”

Powell has revealed that he has no plans to change his captain, with Lee Peltier - who could return against Boro after returning to injury - remaining as skipper despite the arrival of Mark Hudson.

Anthony Gerrard, Martin Paterson and Joe Lolley are also on the mend.
