West Ham United 'interested' in free agent swoop for experienced Sheffield United star

West Ham United are reportedly interested in departing Sheffield United goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.

The experienced stopper has not agreed fresh terms with the Blades and is set to depart as a free agent. His exit will bring an end to a four-year association with Sheffield United, having joined in the summer of 2020.

Although he is moving on, his time in the Premier League may not be up. According to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page, West Ham are interested in bringing Foderingham on board as cover between the sticks.

A seasoned goalkeeper at 33, Foderingham boasts Premier League experience and would also contribute to West Ham’s homegrown quota. He is leaving South Yorkshire after 112 appearances for the Blades, having previously racked up over 100 outings for Swindon Town and Rangers.

In a statement issued via Instagram after confirmation of his Blades exit, Foderingham said: “Thank you for the love and support it has been a hell of a ride. Some great memories I will cherish for a lifetime! Although I have loved playing for this football club, it is time for a change. I wish the club all the best in the future and hopefully the team can bounce back next season.

"To my teammates, you boys have been like family over the last few seasons. No matter how difficult it has been at times, we as a group always remained strong and I thank you all for your support and friendship.”
