When will Hull City striker Oscar Estupinan return to action after appeal blow

HULL CITY have failed in their appeal to have Oscar Estupinan's three-match ban at Millwall reduced to one match - and the Tigers top-scorer will now not be available again until the home game with Sunderland on December 17.

The Colombian received his marching orders after catching Lions defender Charlie Cresswell, on loan from Leeds United, in the face with a stray boot.

Referee John Busby's report confirmed that Estupinan was sent off for violent conduct which came with a mandatory three-game suspension.

City provided a written statement and evidence to try and see the length of the ban cut to one game and cited a yellow card for Louie Sibley - a player at Rosenior's old club Derby - in last weekend's FA Cup draw at Torquay United - to try and highlight their case.

Rosenior felt that the challenge from Estupinan was an accident and viewed it as an 'exceptional circumstance', which could have potentially seen the suspension cut.

The striker missed the midweek win at Cardiff and will also now sit out City's first game back after the World Cup break at Watford on December 11 alongside Saturday's home game with Reading.

Rosenior said: "We failed in our appeal for his three-match ban to be overturned. I do understand their decision. Obviously, I am a little bit disappointed in it.

"It is a shame he is not available, but we have a good enough squad to get by."

After two away games and long away trips, Rosenior is toying with the prospect of freshening up his side against former club Reading.

He added: "My job is to gauge the players not just from a physical level, but mentally as it is exhausting. To go ten men against Millwall for 60 minutes and then put in the performance that they did against Cardiff, I am delighted with them. It is up to me to get the balance right.

"What I don't want to do is upset things too much and change relationships, but at the same time, I might freshen it up. The decision has not been made yet, but I will make it tomorrow morning (Friday).

"Fortunately, there is nothing new (injury wise), which is great. There's a few tired bodies and they’ve had their rest, but there's no new injury problems."
