York City out to cement their status

YORK CITY aim to cement their place in the Blue Square Premier play-offs when they welcome AFC Wimbledon to the Kit-Kat Crescent tonight.

The Minstermen can all-but secure their place with victory over the injury-hit London club, whose own promotion challenge has faltered in recent weeks.

Dons manager Terry Brown faces a striking crisis with Danny Kedwell and Luke Moore joining Jon Main in the treatment room.

York chief Martin Foyle faces a different type of selection headache with Michael Rankine pushing for a starting berth after a strong showing in Monday's last-gasp 2-1 win over Altrincham.

Foyle said: "I want players to have the same impact at the start of games as they do coming off the bench.

"We need everybody singing from the same hymn sheet. It will be a massive game and, hopefully, well-supported."
