Steve Evans’s team now have a great opportunity to reach the third round, having put themselves into the hat for Sunday’s draw following a comprehensive 3-0 win over Yorkshire rivals Bradford City at the New Ypork Stadium on Saturday.

But Keith Hill’s side - who won 2-0 at Torquay United on Saturday to book their place in the next phase - will provide stiff opposition, having enjoyed a promising start to the season in League Two which has left them sitting in fourth place.

Nigel Clough knows his team will have to hit the road in the second round, although they won’t know exactly where they are heading until next week once the outcome of the first round tie between Bury and Cambeidge United is known. The tie was postponed on Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch at Gigg Lane and will now be played on Tuesday, November 19.

York City - who earned a 3-3 draw in their first round match at Bristol Rovers on Friday night, know they will have home advantage in the second round if they win the replay at Bootham Crescent. Should they prevail, they will host League One.

Elsewhere, Skrill Premier high-flyers Kidderminster will be dreaming of a place in the third round after being drawn to face either Braintree or Newport.

The Midlands outfit completed a 4-1 win over Sutton on Saturday and will face the winner of the replay between League Two County and Skrill Premier rivals Braintree for a place in the hat when the Premier League and Championship clubs enter the fray.
