Mills now looking to end fantastic year on a high

GARY MILLS is calling on York City to finish a truly glorious 2012 on a high.

The Minstermen have enjoyed a year to savour with promotion back to the Football League and an FA Trophy triumph at Wembley.

With York also having adapted well to the demands that League Two brings after eight years in non-league, Mills is looking for his side to push on in the race for the play-offs.

The City manager said: “The year 2012 is one that I don’t think anyone involved with York City will ever forget. Everyone connected with York City has worked so hard to achieve what we did.

Promotion was the big thing but the FA Trophy was a big thing for the club as well. It would be great to finish what has already been a fantastic year on a high with some good results.”

Mills, a former European Cup winner as a player with Nottingham Forest, added: “On a personal level, I have been in the game a lot of years and this has definitely been one of my best 12 months.

“In fact, I’d possibly say 2012 has been the best. Playing and management is very different and when I look back at this year then it can only be with a lot of satisfaction.”

Mills added: “We have a couple of tough games before the end of the year but we have shown in recent weeks that we have no need to be worried about facing anyone.”

Last six games: Chesterfield WWLWDL, York City LDLWLW.

Referee: C Sarginson (Staffordshire).
