Transfer round-up and managerial merry-go-round: Leeds, Barnsley, Hull, York

HULL CITY are being tipped to test the resolve of Leicester City one last time with a final bid for goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The Tigers have lined up an alternative deal to sign former Rangers custodian Allan McGregor, for £1.8m from Turkish side Besiktas, but Schmeichel remains their first choice, according to reports.

Three reported bids have so far been rejected for the former Leeds United player and a successful deal could hinge on Hull defender Jack Hobbs moving to the Foxes as part of the offer with Leicester, with ex-Tigers boss Nigel Pearson a big fan of the imposing centre-half.

Meanwhile, big striking target - Celtic forward Gary Hooper - has revealed his desire to leave Parkhead this summer to boost his international aspirations.

Hooper’s deal with the Bhoys ends next summer and he is keen to test himself in the Premier League, with Hull having seen a $4m-plus bid turned down last week.

Southampton have also been linked with the player, with several other strikers rumoured to be on Hull’s wanted list, including Burnley’s Charlie Austin.

Owen Coyle has confirmed he is not planning a move to bring former Bolton Wanderers striker and big Sheffield Wednesday summer target Kevin Davies to Wigan Athletic.

Davies is available on a free transfer after being released by the Trotters and he played under Coyle during his time at the Reebok Stadium.

But speaking about the 36-year-old, Coyle said: “Kevin was my skipper and an outstanding player. “It would be remiss of me to mention individual players but he is a good lad.

“I think there is a bit of interest in Kevin but it is probably not what we are looking to bring into the football club although he is an outstanding man.”

Midfielder Dale Jennings is being tipped to complete his move to Barnsley today, pending completion of a medical.

Meanwhile, York City are reportedly eyeing a move for Barnet striker Jake Hyde.

The Bees are facing a battle to keep hold of their best players following their relegation from League Two with a number of clubs keeping tabs on Hyde.

Hyde is looking to leave the North London outfit and has handed in a transfer request in a bid to secure a move elsewhere.

The news has alerted a host of Football League clubs with the 22-year-old finishing as Barnet’s top scorer last season with 14 goals.
