The Minstermen manager was hugely disappointed by his side’s efforts in the 2-0 defeat at leaders Burton Albion at the weekend and is demanding a response tonight against Luton Town.

Among those under the threat of the axe are Lindon Meikle and Anthony Straker as York look to bounce back against a club who became a fierce rival during their days together in the Conference.

Worthington said: “We might make a change or two and no-one can say they haven’t had an opportunity in the various positions. If someone finds they are not in the team, there will be a reason and that is the cruel game of football.

“I am only here to try and get results and push the club forward.”

York-Luton fixtures have been fiery affairs in recent years with the 11 meetings in the Conference having yielded six red cards.

There has also been trouble on and off the field, with then Hatters manager Gary Brabin being sent off during one fixture and later found guilty of using threatening words.

York players, meanwhile, had to brave a barrage of missiles after beating Luton in the 2010 play-off semi-final between the two clubs.
