YP Letters: Why I won't be voting for Dan Jarvis

I AM writing to express annoyance at your paper’s attempt to promote the 
MP for Barnsley Central 
as some sort of rival to Jeremy Corbyn.

Further to this irritation is your constant reference to Dan Jarvis as an “ex paratrooper”.

As if this gives him greater Kudos.

It certainly would if you were engaged in hand to hand combat with a mortal enemy, or wondering how on earth you open your parachute, when making a desperate evacuation from a crashing plane. If Mr Jarvis had been a lorry driver, postman or just worked at the local filling station, would you prefix this to every mention of him in your paper? I think not.

The only time I have heard Mr Jarvis speak he had literally nothing to say and actually seemed overcome with fright at the thought of expressing an opinion, which at some time in the future, he may be questioned on.

You also state that he and Rachel Reeves are not in the Shadow Cabinet. That is because they refuse to serve. Hardly what you would expect a paratrooper, ex or not, to do!
