Full-time ambition occupies Doncaster

The Welshman has signed a two-year extension to his current deal, taking him up to the end of the 2015-16 season.

The Knights are on course for an instant return to the Championship as they lead National One with a seven-point lead at the top with seven games to go.

If they secure promotion, the plan at Castle Park is to explore the possibility of going full-time.

Griffiths said: “Both myself and the board are looking into how we can best push forward professional rugby at Castle Park.

“We want to make the Knights a showcase that people want to be a part of and buy into. There are a lot of good people at Castle Park who will endeavour to make it work.

“There is no doubt in my mind that our visions are achievable.”

Knights president Tony De Mulder added: “Retaining a director of rugby with Clive’s proven attributes is a key component of the club’s aspirations to develop coaching across all rugby talent at Castle Park.

“Over time we aim to establish a talent pathway focused on developing Doncaster players through the club structure to become part of the professional squad.”

With hardly any action in the Championship or National One, the game of the day from a Yorkshire perspective is the derby between Sheffield Tigers and Otley, both of whom are battling against relegation from National Two North.
