For the Blades, defenders Stephen Jordan and Nyron Nosworthy are still unavailable for the Blades while Darius Henderson, Ryan France and Lee Williamson are long term absentees.

Gordon Strachan: "We are pleased to bring Matthew (Kilgallon) in and he wants to be here. Wheats and McManus might not play every game this season, so we had to have some experienced cover."

Gary Speed: "This would have been a difficult game at anytime of the season, never mind your first game in charge."
