Full-time whistle: Leeds United, Sheffield United and Hull City beat freeze to win, but Sheffield Wednesday crash to heavy defeat

Leeds United beat the festive freeze and leaders QPR to climb up into the Championship promotion places.

On the day when games including Barnsley, Huddersfield, Bradford and Rotherham were frozen off, United beat Rangers 2-0 at Elland Road.

And there were Championship wins for Hull City, 2-0 against Bristol City, and Sheffield United who edged out Swansea City.

In League One, Sheffield Wednesday were humiliated by Exeter City in a 5-1 thrashing.

Jay Simpson (13, 62) gave Tigers victory.

Leeds United 2 QPR 0

Max Gradel (25) stunned the leaders with first-half goal, before grabbing a second on 70 minutes.

Ched Evans (44) grabbed the only goal of the game at Bramall Lane.
