After competing in Group One company last year with credit, he found the return to Listed company much easier.

Without really asking for everything, Kieren Fallon moved his mount to the outside and Gabrial (100-30) quickened up smartly to put the race to bed.

Gelded in the winter, he still showed a little quirk by drifting to his right but it certainly did not slow him down.

“He’s done that really well, hasn’t he filled out over the winter?” said Fahey, who is based at Norton, near Malton.

“His whole demeanor has changed since he’s been gelded but he’s always been very talented.

“He’ll be going to Chester, Marwan (Dr Koukash, owner) says there’s a 10-furlong Group Three which will suit him (Huxley Stakes).

“Kieren said he quickened up without him even noticing, he’s got a hell of a stride on him.”

Fahey wasted no time in doubling up when Ingleby Spirit sprinted away with the Bet365.com Handicap over a mile-and-a-half.

Fit from hurdling, perhaps the only surprise was that he was sent off at 16-1 considering the form of the yard.

“I felt he was badly handicapped over hurdles so we might look at sending him over fences next season,” said Fahey.

“We’ll keep the Swinton Hurdle at Haydock in mind for him but he got put up 4lb for finishing second in a bad race at Musselburgh over hurdles.”

Move In Time looks set for another foray into Group company after defying a 10lb rise in the bet365 Handicap.

A smart sprinter for Bryan Smart in his younger days, he had lost his way last season and joined Nawton handler David O’Meara in the winter.

Gelded in the interim, he hacked up on his first start for his new yard at Musselburgh and was given a hefty hike in the weights.

He was also facing another furlong here but Danny Tudhope gave him a confident ride and he held off Shropshire to win by three-quarters of a length.

“The way he finished off over five last time we were fairly confident he’d stay,” said O’Meara.

“I asked Dave Nolan, who rode him up there, and he had no doubts at all. Also he’d won over six at two. He’s won off 95 today and was 102 at his peak so I thought the 10lb rise was fair, it could have been a couple more.

“I don’t know where we’ll go, but we’ve entered him in the Palace House at the Guineas meeting.”

Mark Johnston’s Peterkin stepped up markedly on his debut effort at Leicester eight days ago to take the Bet365 Maiden Stakes.

Last of seven at the Midlands venue, the Invincible Spirit colt had obviously learned a great deal and he broke very smartly under Joe Fanning.

Johnston’s assistant Jock Bennett said: “He was very green at Leicester but the race was over today after a couple of furlongs.

“He got the rail, which obviously helped, and we weren’t that disappointed with him at Leicester.

“We’ve had such a bad winter in Middleham that the two-year-olds haven’t had the education on the grass that they would have usually have had by now, it’s all been on the Tapeta.”

Next up was another Norton handler in Brian Ellison, who has his string at the top of their game and Beaumont’s Party (3-1 favourite) followed up a win at Newcastle seven days ago in the hands of Dale Swift in the Stan Foster Celebration Handicap.

David Barron’s Robot Boy (7-4) denied Lewisham an elusive victory in the Casino At Bet365 Maiden Stakes.

“He hasn’t got a clue,” said Barron, who operates out of Maunby in North Yorkshire.

“He’d showed up well at home but showed nothing on his debut and was a bit better next time.

“Jamie (Spencer) gave him a crack today and it might have woke him up a bit.”

Surrey handler Olly Stevens saddled the only winner from outside Yorkshire, when 6-1 chance School Fees landed the concluding bet365.com Fillies’ Handicap under Ryan Moore.

Hambleton handler Bryan Smart is eyeing the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket on May 4 with his smart sprinter Tangerine Trees.

Smart has high hopes for the former Prix de l’Abbaye winner this term after he gained a confidence-boosting success at Musselburgh in March.

The eight-year-old sprinter had not tasted victory since his Group One success at Longchamp in October 2011.
