Glenys's good run continues as Trials return to Nidd Hall

AFTER a break of 12 years the North Eastern Driving Trials group returned to the Nidd Hall estate near Harrogate for a weekend of competitions.

Glenys Ellis from Flockton maintained her unbeaten run this season, despite being pressed hard by Jane Wilson from North Newbald, making a return to competitive driving after a break of five years.

The pairs class was won by veteran driver Douglas Strachan from North Ferriby with first-time groom Beth Harrison experiencing a baptism of fire around the marathon obstacles.

In the combined tandem and team class, Jeff Ormerod from Lancashire maintained his first-day lead to win.

The three horse teams were led by Geoff Brown from Northumberland, ahead of Cumbria's Robert Bowman.
