Alwoodley’s Beckwith stands fourth in English Girls’ Open at Sheringham

ALWOODLEY’S Kirsty Beckwith is placed fourth after the first round of the English Girls’ Open Amateur stroke play championship at Sheringham.

She shot a 74, dropping just two shots and picking up one birdie.

Laura Morrison (Garforth) is sharing seventh place after a 76 which contained two birdies and four bogeys in her outward nine. She had half the quantity of each coming home.

Ganstead Park’s Abigail Smee is tied 11th with a 77. She was out in 41, but recovered to come home in 36, aided by a birdie at the 15th.

Olivia Jackson, of Pannal, recorded an 81 and is equal 37th. She had three double bogeys, highlight of her round being a birdie at 10.

Meon Valley’s Emma Allen is four shots ahead of the pack after an excellent opening seven-under-par 66.
