Lindrick's Luke Jackson, tied third going into the final round of the Cumberwell Park Championship after successive rounds of 66, fell back to finish 30th with a final score of 77.

Victory went to Longridge’s Mark Young (65 65 67), his second on the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour in as many weeks.

Jackson had suffered only two bogeys in his first two rounds, which he had embellished with three birdies on day one, five on day two, and an eagle on each day.

But looking to make up a two-shot gap on Young he accumulated five bogeys and a double bogey with his solitary birdie of the day coming at the 12th.

Hillsborough’s Joe Dean, former English amateur champion, showed great consistency with 68 68 69 to share 10th place and sits just outside the top 10 in the tour’s order of merit after his fourth top-10 finish of the year.

After birdieing six he stumbled to a double bogey seven at the ninth, but hit straight back with a gain at 10 and added two more birdies at 16 and 17.

One place behind him was Wheatley’s Ben Brewster, who made a stunning recovery after a first-round 75 by shooting 65 66.

He had a blemish-free round on the final day while his 65 contained five birdies and an eagle.

Hull’s Steve Robins had put himself into a promising position by opening with 68 66, but ended matters with a 73.

Moortown’s Nick McCarthy (68 71 69) made four birdies and two bogeys in round three, and claimed a top-25 spot.

Will Whiteoak (Shipley) shot 68 on Wednesday, but his scores went in the wrong direction, 70 73 on the last two days leaving him tied 39th.

Moor Allerton and Abu Dhabi’s Joe Heraty sandwiched a 68 with scores of 72 73 and will rue a costly triple bogey in the third round.
